WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY

I love training with Professor Antonio Mota at Atos Brisbane Mota-Vation Jiu Jitsu. It’s not just about the fact that Antonio is an André Galvão black belt – he has a teaching style and personality that really draws you in and wills you to improve.

With access to so many world champions at Atos HQ and Professor Antonio’s annual trips to San Diego to train first hand with them, Atos Brisbane offers me something that no other school in Queensland can.

The passion and genuine excitement that Professor Mota brings to every single class is contagious and his knowledge of BJJ and lineage in the sport is world class. There is zero attitude in the gym and everyone who trains there, from the senior belts down to the white belts develop a comradery which is nearly impossible to find outside of military service. Every class is hard honest work and you will leave with a sore body and a big grin on you face. If you have ever considered trying Jiu Jitsu then start at ATOS Brisbane with Professor Mota.

I've been training at Atos with Antonio for over 3 years an it's hard to put into words how much I've learnt and built confidence in martial arts. The calibre of training and community here is incredible and training is always the highlight of my week. Can't recommend enough.

Our family have enjoyed training with Professor Antonio for over twelve years now. With all four of our children, Professor Antonio has provided the perfect combination of motivation and challenge alongside support and nurture. Two of our sons have taken their BJJ training to the competition circuit and have excelled in their divisions with Professor Antonio mentoring and coaching them the whole way. Our daughter (now 20 years old) has a strong foundation in self-defence and has developed resilience and confidence through her BJJ training, while our four year old son enjoys the mix of playfulness and fun that also come with Professor Antonio’s classes. We will be eternally grateful for the incredible level of care and dedication that Professor Antonio provides. As a female training in a largely male dominated sport, I have always felt welcome, safe and supported with Professor Antonio and the community at the academy. As well as being a great opportunity to enjoy a sport alongside my kids, knowing self-defence skills has been a fantastic life skill and a fun way to stay healthy. Top facilities at the academy - always kept immaculately clean - and a comfortable and pleasant space to train in. Professor Antonia has attracted an amazing community of positive, welcoming individuals and families.

Professor Antonio has fostered a great community with a diverse demographic, which for us is key for our kids as they have such valuable role models within the academy .All six of us have developed a resilience and an ability to be comfortable when things are uncomfortable through practicing Brazillian Jujitsu. Professor Antonio’s organic style of running his classes, particularly the kids’ classes, is something that has always resonated with us. His ability to read the children so that he can encourage them to grow in their abilities, while still navigating the complexity of emotions is incredible. The kids always leave the mat with a sense of fun and positivity; Professor Antonio has been a fantastic role model for our sons.

I have been training under Professor Antonio for nearly 10 years. I love coming here, the vibe is awesome, so friendly & family orientated. Professor has such extensive knowledge from all over the world and will help you if you want to train just for fitness or if you want to be a competitor! Highly recommend for all BJJ types!

You could not ask for a better environment to train Jiu Jitsu. Professor Antonio is a brilliant teacher and someone who inspires all ages to constantly improve both on and off the mat.

Training here for over a year now and absolutely love it. Professor Antonio is super motivating and extremely knowledgable. Very welcoming culture. Everyone trains hard, but also thoughtfully helps each other to improve. Love the hard rolls and good friends! Really recommend training here. EDIT: Training here for two years now. All comments from previous review still hold! One thing I will add is that there is a philosophy Antonio constantly repeats which I really, really admire; "We get better when we all get better." Don't think any statement could be truer. Jiu jitsu is an evolutionary arms race, your training partners improvements to attack, force your defence to improve. Your improvements to defence, force your opponents attack to improve. And so on. Knowing this, and it being the core philosophy of the gym, really keeps egos in check and I think makes good camaraderie. Train! P.S. I'm second from the left, Antonio to my right :)
